As in ancient Egypt, nail color indicated one's status, black for noblemen and green for the normal man. Around once, 3000 B.C., the first toenail polish originated in ancient China. It had been made from beeswax, egg whites, gelatin, veg dyes, and gum arabic. Chinese language dipped their nails in this concoction for several hours or kept it to dried. Colors ranged from red to red, depending on the mixture of the ingredients. Through the Zhou Dynasty, 600 B.C., royalty used this simple nail polish with gold and silver dust on the nails to show their social status.
