Nail art work is a creative way to color, decorate, enhance, and embellish the nails. It is a kind of artwork that you can do on toenails and fingernails, after manicures or pedicures usually. A manicure and a pedicure are beauty treatments that trim, shape, and polish the nail. Often these methods remove the cuticles and soften the skin across the fingernails or toenails.The exact origin of toenail treatments is unclear, since it appears to have originated in various parts of the world around the same time. In ancient Egypt, from 5000 B.C. to 3000 B.C., women would dye their fingernails with henna to point cultural seductiveness and position. Women of the low class wore pastel and neutral shades, as the upper classes wore deep, bright shades. In Babylonia, 3200 B.C., men, not women, painted their fingernails or toenails with dark-colored and inexperienced kohl, an ancient cosmetic. To prepare for warfare, warriors of Babylon spent time having their toenails prepared, wild hair curled and got other similar beauty treatments. As in ancient Egypt, nail color indicated one's status, black for noblemen and green for the common man. Around the same time, 3000 B.C., the first toenail polish originated in ancient China. It was made from beeswax, egg whites, gelatin, vegetable dyes, and gum arabic. Chinese dipped their fingernails in this mixture for several hours or still left it on to dried. Colors ranged from green to red, with respect to the mixture of the ingredients. During the Zhou Dynasty, 600 B.C., royalty used this simple toe nail polish with silver and gold dust on their nails to show their social position.
