It had been made from beeswax, egg whites, gelatin, veggie dyes, and gum arabic. Chinese dipped their fingernails in this combination for several time or kept it to dried out. Colors ranged from red to red, depending on the combination of the ingredients. During the Zhou Dynasty, 600 B.C., royalty used this simple nail polish with gold and silver dust on the nails to show their social status.
