It is a type of artwork that can be done on toenails and fingernails, after manicures or pedicures usually. A manicure and a pedicure are beauty treatments that trim, shape, and polish the nail. Usually the cuticles are removed by these procedures and soften your skin across the nails.The exact origins of toenail treatments is unclear, since it appears to have originated in several parts of the global world around the same time. In ancient Egypt, from 5000 B.C. to 3000 B.C., women would dye their nails with henna to point social position and seductiveness. Women of the lower class wore pastel and neutral shades, while the upper classes deep wore, bright shades. In Babylonia, 3200 B.C., men, not women, coated their fingernails with dark and green kohl, an ancient beauty. To prepare for warfare, warriors of Babylon spent time having their claws prepared, hair curled and acquired other similar beauty treatments. As with ancient Egypt, nail color indicated one's status, black for noblemen and green for the common man. Around the same time, 3000 B.C., the first toenail polish started in ancient China. It had been created from beeswax, egg whites, gelatin, veg dyes, and gum arabic. Chinese dipped their fingernails or toenails in this blend for several hours or left it to dried. Colors ranged from green to red, with respect to the combination of the ingredients. During the Zhou Dynasty, 600 B.C., royalty used this simple toenail polish with gold and silver dust on the nails showing their social position.
